I know it’s been a little bit since we’ve done a recipe for Model Bites. Trust me when I say, I’ve always got food on my mind. But there’s no reason to leave you hanging while I concoct new dishes so in the meantime, I’ve enlisted the help of my dear model friend Mirte. She’s a Dutchy-turned-Aussie with a killer personality who’s big on healthy eating. Oh, and she’s been featured before on the blog for Who’s That Girl. I love this chick! Without further ado, here’s Mirte….
Hello guys, it’s fruit soup time!
Unsure what to have for breakfast? Smoothie bowls are a fool proof way to start your day right. I usually keep the main ingredients to the potassium rich banana but be creative, taste along the way and you always end up with a delicious bowl of healthy goodness.
It’s the weekend and brunch is here! Although I like the savory dishes, I’ve really got a sweet tooth. Blame it on my momma. I’ll eat anything you can pour syrup on like biscuits, pancakes, waffles, and of what’s cooking today… french toast. Actually this little recipe is something I picked up from dear mom. Think of it as a Southern twang on a Pain Perdu. The special ingredient just happens to be eggnog or more specifically what I put in the eggnog. Wink wink.
Welcome to the weekend. You’ve got a couple days to relax and release, and I’ve got a good idea on exactly how you can do that. Hint: it involves stuffing your belly. I often feel that Americans work too hard and don’t know how to properly indulge in the good life. We don’t take long vacations and we don’t know how not be stressed out. But what we do know how to do very well is EAT. Y’all know I’m a sucker for comfort food and brunch is my business. If I could eat grits, eggs, bacon and biscuits all day, you know I would and then I’d be pleasantly plump in all the right places. Back to my original point. If you’re in La-la Land, you might want to get a taste of the sweet life and on hop on over to one of the city’s best new spots, Terrine.
Hello lovelies! I told you that I’d have something special for Model Bites, and I’m keeping my promise. Since we’re still celebrating the holidays and the new year is near, I though I’d bring you a recipe to start 2015 on a healthy kick. I’m no expert on fitness and diets, so I invited my friend Super Hot-Health Guy- Model Crosby Tailor of Eat Dessert Burn Fat in my kitchen to show us how to make a sweet treat that’s also good for you. He’s created an awesome recipe for ice cream lovers that doesn’t include any harmful sugars or dairy. Oh and if you got an awesome blender of a Vitamix for Christmas, this one’s definitely for you.
Turn on the holiday music. Light a fire. And get ready to be extra cozy. You’ll need all of that after this recipe. Since it’s tis the season, why not make something for the grown folk. Let me tell you a little story. When I was a kid, I hated eggnog. I didn’t get it. Why would anyone want to drink something with eggs in it? Who are you, a body builder in need of a protein fix? So I’d tried the store-bought stuff and said Yuck! Now that I’ve gotten wiser with age, I totally understand. It’s not the eggs, it’s the booze. Liquor easily takes this from your traditional nice eggnog to your next level spiked, naughtiness. Ok kids, this is when you must be 21 and up to proceed. It’s the law.
Let the cooking season begin! Welcome to the new and improved Model Bites. As many of you know, I enjoy eating just as much as I enjoy cooking. And yes, models do eat. I want to share some of recipes with you that I’ve either created or collected over the years. Today’s dish is a quick breakfast for egg lovers. If you’re battling a Thanksgiving turkey hangover, this one’s for you. I call it my “Everything but the Kitchen Sink” Frittata. Why? Because most of your ingredients will be things that are left over in your fridge from holiday cooking or whatever you need to get rid of in a hurry. Genius, right! This frittata is super easy to make, but it looks super fancy. Let’s get started.
I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice cream. Y’all should know by now that I have a huge sweet tooth. I’m blaming this on my Southern upbringing and the fact that my mother loves to bake. For holidays she and my sister whip up tons of cakes, pies, and cookies like machines. If only my family knew how to make ice cream, then we could combine our desserts into one mega superhero sweet treat called the ice cream sandwich. Aah yes. I know this thing already exists, and one of LA’s best, Carmela Ice Cream, does it oh so well.
